Cheadle Heath Campus

Heaton School Cheadle Heath Campus

This specialist site is designed to provide a stepping stone from Heaton to Further Education. It will provide a natural progression for our Post 16 students giving them more opportunities to focus on the necessary Life Skills needed to Transition successfully into adulthood. This could be to a Further Education College, a working environment or supported internship.

Social and communication skills focus will remain a focus and the site is fully supported by the whole Therapy Team.

The curriculum and timetable provide added flexibility that allows more options of working towards independent living and life skills with a strong focus to progress to supported living if this is appropriate.

The curriculum will very much continue to focus on Outcomes for Adulthood with enhanced facilities such as the Heaton Apartment and a mini bus on site. The location provides easier access to community facilities such as the local gym/pool (Avondale), proximity to Pure Innovations and large supermarkets and the centre of Stockport and its transport links.

Opportunities for internal and external Work Experience will be more prevalent/regular.

The Heaton Apartment has been set up to enhance delivery of cooking /preparing food /laundry /home-management /cleaning /shopping /budgeting and money management.

Students will plan and run mini enterprises making products to sell or providing services.

The new site allows for greater links with Post 19 College for transitions and inclusion.

To ensure the Cheadle Heath Campus remains an integral part of the Heaton Community students will return to the Heaton site for subjects such as Performing Arts /Forest Schools / PE and where work experience opportunities can be provided. Students will also share assembly virtually at least once a week
