Heaton News - WB 6th March

Date: 10th Mar 2023 @ 8:48am

Firstly, a BIG thankyou to all families affected by the closure of the Heaton site on Monday. We appreciate your understanding and support with this matter.

Fortunately the Cheadle site were not affected so they were treated to the visit of from NK Theratre Arts group who presented a workshop on the 'Horrible history' theme. This marked the start of our reading week.

Throughout the week students have been taking part in a wide range of reading activities. This years theme was 'Everyone is a reader'. The focus has been on promoting the fact that reading takes many different forms - it can be reading a book, using signs and symbols and recognising cues out in the community. All classes worked on presentation from the book 'The boy, the mole, the fox and the horse'. The end result was shown in today's assembly. On Thursday the drama room was turned into a mini library where students could loan out a book and take part in a range of different reading activities. A big thankyou to all staff who have made this week a huge success.

PTA Relaunch at Heaton school- Due to having no heating or hot water on Monday we had to postpone the PTA launch evening on 6th March. We have therefore rearranged for this coming Monday (13th March) at 6pm - Come along to find out how you could get involved with our brand new school PTA - an ideal opportunity to drive positive change within school with staff and parents working in partnership together. All are welcome!

Comic Relief - Friday 17th March Next week is Comic Relief. We are raising money for this worthy cause by having a non uniform day with the option for students to come into school wearing something silly - £1 donation. Alongside this we are also having a sponsored danceathon in the school drama room where classes will take turns to dance - the aim is for classes to take turns to ensure that dancing takes place for an entire 4.5 hours from 9.45 - 2.15pm - details of how to sponsor your child will be sent out via Classdojo. The day will culminate in a themed assembly.
