We are currently looking to add to the amazing team at school with a number of teaching assistants.
We are a Special Secondary School (11-19 years) for pupils with Severe / Profound Learning Difficulties. Successful candidates may have experience or require training to support young people with a wide range additional needs, including those with sensory impairment, complex medical needs or social interaction difficulties. The role offers the possibility of working in a variety of settings including the school (we have 2 sites in Stockport), the community and local facilities.
All members of staff work within a very supportive multi-disciplinary team, and we strongly encourage staff development and whole school team work. There will be opportunities for the successful applicant to undertake more paid work in the school at after –school clubs and the holiday club. This is a very rewarding job for the right person. This post will be subject to staff achieving enhanced DBS clearance, and a there is a rigorous safeguarding policy at the school.

Grade: Scale 4 points 7 -11 £22,369 – £24,054 pro rata (Actual Salary £10,295.84 – £11,071.40)

The Governors of Heaton School are seeking to appoint Care Assistants to join this ‘outstanding’ and well-respected school. Heaton School is based on two sites, a large site in Heaton Moor and a small site in Cheadle Heath. We are a Secondary Special School for teenagers and young adults with complex, severe, profound and multiple learning difficulties.
We are a school with a strong community feel and ethos. School-based staff are made up of: teachers, teaching assistants, midday support, therapists, a nursing team, office staff, caretaking staff, and kitchen staff. Teamwork at our school is strong.
The post of Care Assistant is a new and exciting role within the school. The role will be vital in supporting school.
Applications are welcomed by people who may wish to combine the role with another (For example- another part-time role in special education; students studying in ICT courses; parents returning to work after a stay at home role)
Cleaning Staff -
Hours: 16 hours per week, 3 hours,15mins per day Monday-Thursday (5.45am – 9.00am), Friday 3hrs, 6.00am-09.00am
Salary : Scale 1 point 1-3, FTE £20,258- £20,812 pro rata is £8,760- £8,999
Contract: Permanent, full year

A Cleaner is required to work at Heaton School - Stockport’s Secondary Special School for young people with Severe Learning Difficulties, Profound and Multiple learning difficulties, Autism and Complex Medical Needs. There are two vacancies, different hours.
Our school is well established in the local area of Heaton Moor and is a very strong community of children and young people, families, staff and partners.
We are committed to providing high quality inclusive education for all our young people within a caring, creative and dynamic environment.
Our students are aged 11 – 19 and there are 97 pupils on roll and we have a Post 16 department for pupils aged 16–19 years.
The post entails
- General cleaning of the interior of the school building
- Cleaning toilets, sinks, classrooms, corridors etc.

Casual Teaching assistants
Are you interested in working as a Casual SEN Teaching Assistant or a Mid-day Assistant?
We wish to appoint a number of supply staff who are:
- Child-centred in their approach
- Sensitive and patient in their dealings with children who have significant special needs and who may, at times, present challenging behaviour
- Knowledgeable about, or interested in, working with children who have autism and or profound and complex learning and physical difficulties
- Flexible, versatile and enthusiastic
Prior experience is not essential. We are looking for people with a genuine interest and positive approach. Ongoing training is provided within school for all staff.
Heaton School is an Outstanding Special School for children aged 11-19 who have severe or profound learning disabilities. You will be working alongside a dedicated and supportive team of staff.
