Heaton news - WB 3rd July

It's safe to say it's been another busy week at Heaton school!

Jen writes....

As part of their Core Skills session , some of the Cheadle students have been giving a helping hand with the task of shopping for home. Students have been coming to school equipped with a shopping list and money in order to participate in the lesson. Individual lesson targets have been set for students to develop their confidence and independence in using shop signage, social sight signs, asking for help from shop staff and interacting with check out staff as well as using own money. Students have been delighted with this extra responsibility to help out at home and over several weeks we have seen fantastic progress.

This week Pam (Our VI specialist teacher) partnered with ARTventurers to hold a creative / sensory art workshop for some of our learners. Students enjoyed taking part in a wide range of sensory 'art based' activities

Wherever possible we like to forge partnerships and share/celebrate achievement with other schools. This week students from our school had the joy of being able to go to watch Manor Academy’s 'end of term' summer show 'The greatest showman'. Students were very engaged and supportive of the performers clapping and dancing along. On the way back all students said they really enjoyed the show saying it was amazing, fun and fantastic.

PTA - Heaton Fest '23 

A quick reminder that we are having our Heaton fest tommorow! Fun will be guaranteed with some great music, stalls, food, drink and much much more! It is from 1 - 4pm so please come along and invite your friends, family and neighbours - everyone's welcome! All proceeds will go towards our School PTA fund.
