Heaton news - WB 2nd Feb
Date: 6th Feb 2026 @ 2:25pm
Music is always a huge motivator for many of our students at Heaton school. This academic year we have continued to work closely with Omni music. Omni music deliver accessible music sessions to Disabled children and adults in partnership with local schools and community groups. They develop low-cost music tech to help our participants make the most of their creativity.
This year Omni music teach music sessions to all our students between year 7 and 11 as well as a few of our Post 16's. They have been developing the use of an assessment tool called 'sounds of intent' to capture the learning that is taking place.

Liquid Listening
This week we have seen Liquid Listening being firmly embedded in the school timetable for some of our students and classes who have been fully utiising the new liquid listening equipment within the hydrotherapy classes. Students have been able to feel the full benefits of this aquatic therapy allowing for sensory exploration in a more unique, calm and interactive way.
Reminder to all Parents/Carers ...
We are experiencing a high level of student and staff sickness at present within school. If your child is showing signs of being unwell we ask that you keep them off until they are feeling better. This will help to minimise the spread of bugs and germs throughout the school.
Have your Say - PFA
Stockport Authority are inviting parents, carers, young people with SEND, professionals, and partner organisations to share their views on Stockport’s draft Preparing for Adulthood (PFA) strategy. This strategy sets out how we will support young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) as they move into adulthood, from ages 14-25.
Your feedback is essential to make sure the strategy reflects real experiences, meets diverse needs, and leads to positive outcomes.
To provide feedback on this strategy please go to: https://consultation.stockport.gov.uk/childrens-services/preparing-for-adulthood-pfa/
Have a great weekend everyone!
