Heaton News - WB 26th Sept

At Heaton we strive to ensure that our students are given every opportunity to know and understand more about the world. This week Holly's class have had a fantastic Science lesson, focusing on gas, liquids and solids. First we had a very exciting Attention Autism 'what's in the science box' session followed by making our own edible slime and exploring fruit frozen in ice - some of us smashed the ice to get to the fruit, some used water and some waited until it had melted. Brilliant Scientists all round!
Wherever possible we create partnerships with external organisations. Men in sheds is an organisation where volunteers engage in community DIY projects. We are very thankful to our local group for helping mend and build equipment for our Forest school sessions. They have improved our old saw horse and built a brand new saw horse which will improve accessibility.
And finally... students are continually encouraged throughout their school day to learn and experience social, friendly and positive interactions through play working with both students and staff. Yasmin's group have shared some great pictures to exemplify this!
