Welcome back everyone! We hope you had a great half term break.
Attention Autism is an intervention that is used widely throughout our curriculum. Attention Autism is a playful and engaging intervention designed to build attention, focus, and social communication skills in autistic children and those with similar developmental needs. The approach is structured around four distinct stages: focusing attention on a highly motivating object, maintaining attention for a longer duration, shifting attention between the object and an adult, and eventually, shifting attention and including a short task. By using visually stimulating and exciting activities, Attention Autism aims to make learning fun and accessible, fostering a positive relationship between the child and the adult, and ultimately leading to increased engagement and improved communication.
Here is Holly's and Elle's class engaging in stage 1, 2 and 3 of Attention Autism. At the 3rd stage in Holly's they all took it in turns to send a rocket into the air. Enjoyment was had by all the class! If you would like more information on this topic please contact Holly.
