Heaton news - WB 20th October

Date: 27th Oct 2025 @ 10:08am

Another busy week as we come to the end of our first half term of the academic year.

Our curriculum ensures that our students are given every opportunity to know, understand and experience different celebrations/ seasonal events. This week Colins group (and others) have enjoyed taking part in some seasonal activities in their forest schools session this week through pumpkin carving. As well helping to collect the pumpkins and deliver them outside, students also helped create and cut out the shapes for some faces, scooped out the seeds and then broken down some of the long willow branches to mount them onto.

This week Elles class visited the newly refurbished Power Hall at the Science and Industry Museum as part of the topic 'Looking into the Past'. Students especially loved the demonstration of the locomotive and watching the wheels turning and pistons moving was a big hit.

Omni music deliver our music curriculum to all our 11-16 students on Thursday and Fridays. This week Brydies class had a fabulous omni music lesson where students were engaged, positively interacted and challenged to develop their self awareness, social interaction and communication skills.

Just a reminder that this week (week beggining 27th October) is half term. Term will resume on Monday 3rd November as we welcome back students for the second half of autumn term.

Parent consultation meetings

Communication has gone out to all parents/carers about parent consultations which will be taking place in the first week back. This is an ideal opportunity to meet with your allocated teacher to discuss progress and targets on IEPs. If you haven't done so already please book your appointment using the link provided on the invite letter.

Dates for your diary:

Tuesday 11th November - Remembrance day

Students will be learning about the significance of this day within their classes and the reflection will be observed within the school community

Friday 14th November - Children in Need day

We will be having a non-uniform day to raise funds for this cause - £2 donation. Some Pudsey related activities will also be happening throughout the day.

Have a great half term everyone!
