Heaton news - WB 20th March

It's been a busy week at Heaton School.
Firstly, a big thankyou to all parents and staff who attended our PTA launch meetings - we had 3 meeting in total. If you didn't get the chance to attend and want to know more information please see the presentation notes and information on the school website. The first PTA AGM will be taking place next Thursday (30th March) at 7.30pm. A virtual link will be sent out next week and all are invited.
Student voice - This week our Student council have had their termly meeting. It was great to get the group together again and Council members have been tasked with going back to classes to find out students views on how to raise school funds for improved play facilities in our playground. All council members will feedback after the easter break.
Work based learning - SBC have launched their own small business called 'Make your Mark 'this week. They are selling easter cards within school and have also branched out to the Heaton Moor High Street. Stomping ground have agreed to sell their products to the wider public! This not only provides our students with a significant sense of positive contribution but also helps to raise awareness of our school within our community - well done SBC!
Last Friday Kyle and Anne Marie went to a presentation held by Stockport Hydro. A big thankyou to them for awarding the school a £500 challenge fund award which will be put towards a storage shed in Forest Schools.
Swimathon - We are also very grateful to West Heaton Tennis club and the Rotary club for arranging for us to take part in the annual swimathon lasrt Saturday. Our staff team consisted of Jonno, Kyle, Colette and Helen. Also a BIG thankyou to Jani and Nico (Jonno's Son's) for joining the team. Once sponsorship is complete we look forward to reporting on how much money was raised.

National Siblings day 2023 is on April 10th. Mel (Family Liaison Worker) has pulled together a fun activity pack for over the Easter Holidays which celebrate siblings in our school community. Mel has sent some other information about this out on class dojo.
Dates for your diary
Next week is maths week. Students will be taking part in a range of different activities on the theme 'EGG'. Plenty of opportunity for overlap with easter related lessons as we approach the end of term. How 'Eggciting'!!

and finally..
We sadly say goodbye to Debs today, who is retiring. We want to thank her for her 17 years of service at Heaton School. We will miss Debs and wish her every happiness in retirement.
