This week we are taking a different angle of reporting on school life and the focus is on our staff!
Continued Professional Development is an essential component for all staff who work at Heaton School. Staff are given wide opportunities to be challenged, to develop in their roles and to learn new skills and obtain knowledge that helps them to be highly effective in their roles. Essentially this only helps our students to achieve positive outcomes!
Throughout this week a number of staff have been learning all about liquid listening and how to deliver liquid listening lessons within the hydrotherapy pool. All staff (and students) involved have found this training to be extremely helpful and we look forward to sharing with you how this is developed within the future curriculum.
On Tuesday night Goofus Arts Theatre Company worked with some staff to deliver a session exploring how puppetry can be used effectively within lessons. They returned on Wednesday and Thursday to perform to students at the Heaton site. It was amazing to see positive student engagement and focus and we are very thankful to Goofus Arts.

On Monday all staff continued their training on using play to enhance learning opportunities. Staff engaged with the new playboxes and were enthused to start using the boxes within lessons!

Stockport Authority are inviting parents, carers, young people with SEND, professionals, and partner organisations to share their views on Stockport’s draft Preparing for Adulthood (PFA) strategy. This strategy sets out how we will support young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) as they move into adulthood, from ages 14-25.
Your feedback is essential to make sure the strategy reflects real experiences, meets diverse needs, and leads to positive outcomes.
