Heaton news - WB 15th May

Date: 19th May 2023 @ 11:56am

Shapes (Stockport) held a Cross country event at our School this week. It was a great opportunity for runners of all different abilities to complete two laps around the school grounds. Our students had a superb time and the weather conditions were perfect for running. It was wonderful to see students being cheered for their achievement in crossing the finish line. We got lots of smiley faces along the way and everyone received a certificate for great participation and effort. One very special medal was handed to Dylan in Nicola's class.

Independence development is very important in preparing our students for adulthood. Wherever possible we give our students wide opportunity to access the community. Some students from Roisin's class have been travel training in Manchester over the past few months. They have experienced going to and from the city using the train, learning about all the sights and sounds of the City, whilst also going into shops and cafes.  This experience has also given students an opportunity to practice their social interaction and communication skills.
