Heaton news - WB 11th March
Date: 15th Mar 2024 @ 4:12pm
Thankyou to all parents / carers who made a contribution to our Red nose day collection. Students came to school in non uniform (with the option of wearing red). In the afternoon we had an extended assembly where we celebrated each others talents through different performances from students. Contributions varied from class videos to dancing, singing and telling jokes! Fun was had by all!
Performing Arts is a key subject in our curriculum that enables students to strengthen in confidence to communicate within a team and each other, whilst also learning key social interaction skills. Within performing arts this term Lucy's classes have been focusing on the theme 'Journeys'. This last week students from SBC have gone on a journey into space (with the creative help of our very own interactive drama room!) Fun has been had by all dressing as astronauts, creating the rockets and miming being in the Milky Way!
As well as celebrating our students acheivements we also like to celebrate the acheivement of our staff. This Tuesday Madhu (a member of our teaching bank staff) was awarded the' Inspiration 2024 Special Award for Community Spirit' at the Houses of Parliament in London. Madhu ran Manchester Marathon in a 6 yard saree, celebrating her cultural heritage and inspiring Indian women around the world to start running. Congratulations to Madhu on this achievement.
