Heaton News - WB 8th May

Date: 12th May 2023 @ 8:13am

Despite it only being a 4 day week, our students have been very busy!

Within Key stage 5 Sam's group have been busy this week making soaps for their enterprise project this term. Students have been learning the process of making soap, practicing their independence, communication and lifeskills along the way. They will start to sell their products next week.

Engaging within our community is a very important aspect of our students learning. On Wednesday Ruth took her group to visit the Etihad Manchester City stadium. Students were fortunate enough to see the pitch and to experience using their sensory room provision.

At Heaton we pride ourselves on preparing our young people for adulthood and love to keep in touch with students and hear about their ongoing life journey. We have recently heard that Callum (a former student of Heaton school) has been offered 2 days paid employment with TRU Offices in Manchester. Callum started at this workplace as a placement from College and had successfully obtained an offer of employment through hard work, adapting well to learning new skills & proving himself to be an integral part of the team. Callum will be working in an administrative role; invoice matching, filing etc. Amanda (Mum) said "All of this was possible given the amazing workplace opportunities available to him whilst at Heaton School, enabling him to develop an understanding and a skill set of employment expectations through numerous workplace experiences accessed whilst at Heaton". Go Callum!!
