Heaton news - WB 8th December
Date: 12th Dec 2025 @ 10:39am
It's safe to say Heaton school have entered into the festive season with a bang this week!
On Wednesday Students at the Heaton site enjoyed christmas dinner. Thanks to Mel and team for making the hall so magical! Students enjoyed the christmas atmosphere and appreciated a visit from Santa!
Nativity
Last night (Thursday) we had our first ever interactive nativity. Families who came enjoyed being able to experience the christmas story in new and different ways. On arrival people entered a journey back into time visiting a variety of themed rooms. Activities varied from making kings crowns, clopping the hooves of donkeys and crafts and music associated with angels. The evening culminated in a short carol service where carols were sung (and signed), followed by a short christmas message from Rev Liz Rowles from St Pauls church, Heaton Moor. A huge thanks to all staff who arranged this highly successful event. Please find attached some of the music that accompanied people as they journeyed! This music has been created in music lessons working in partnership with Omni Music. Pictures of this event will follow on the website very soon!
Congratulations!
Over the past 18 months we have focussed on reviewing how we train and develop staff in their roles. Teachers now access regular personal development sessions working with their peers to know and understand SEND related research and to apply this to their role and subject area (pertinent to Heaton School). We are pleased to announce that two of our staff members (Eleanor Kaye and Elle Leggett) have recently had research articles published in SEND publications. A great achievement!
