Heaton news - WB 7th October
Date: 11th Oct 2024 @ 1:59pm
On Thursday we joined many people and organisations around the world to recognise World Mental Health Day. The overall objective of World Mental Health Day is to raise awareness of mental health issues around the world and to mobilise efforts in support of mental health.
To mark this day the school drama/ immersive room was transformed into a 'zen den'. Students were given an opportunity to experience different calming activities as part of their learning. A huge thanks to Elle for arranging this event.
16+ information evening
On Wednesday evening we had a great turn out for our 16+ information evening. members of the early adult children's learning dissability team were in attendance and parents received an update as to developments within the authority around the support on offer to parents and carers as their son/daughter progresses into adulthood. Details of the findings of this meeting (and actions moving forward) will be distributed in due course. It was evident that there is a need for such events to be held in order to provide the support needed, especially given some of the challenges that families face in this area.
