Vocational Visits, Vital Safety, and Sporting Success!
It has been an incredibly busy, productive, and inspiring week for our students. From exploring local career paths to mastering new sports and learning life-saving safety skills, everyone has thrown themselves into our latest preparation for adulthood activities.
Here is a look at what we’ve been up to:
Post-16 Team-Up at the Strawberry Fox Cafe
Our Post-16 students enjoyed a wonderful and inspiring community trip this week with a work placement visit to the Strawberry Fox Cafe.
Ernie writes.... From the moment we arrived, we received the warmest welcome from the team, Emma and Dylan, who kindly invited us to sit down, relax, and enjoy some delicious drinks and snacks together. While we enjoyed our treats, Emma and Dylan shared the fantastic story of how the cafe first started and how it has grown. Most importantly, our students got to ask questions and learn about how other young people help to run the business day-to-day. We heard about the wide variety of roles involved in keeping a busy cafe moving, including:
-
Hospitality & Customer Service: Welcoming guests and creating a friendly atmosphere.
-
Food Preparation: Learning what goes on behind the scenes in the kitchen.
-
Managing Orders: Keeping track of requests and ensuring everything runs smoothly.
It was an incredible opportunity for our group to see real-world vocational skills in action. Seeing other students thrive in a working environment was incredibly motivating and gave our young people plenty of inspiration for their own future career paths and independence goals. Everyone was highly engaged, asked great questions, and thoroughly enjoyed the lovely atmosphere.

Stay Safe This Summer: Fire & Water Safety Presentation
With the warmer weather arriving, our Semi-Formal students took part in a vital Fire Safety presentation this week.
Our guest speaker delivered an incredibly important message about the dangers of swimming in unsafe, unsupervised open water during hot weather. The students also reviewed emergency protocols, learning exactly how to get in touch with the fire service if an emergency ever arises.
Our students showed fantastic maturity throughout the presentation, asking great questions and engaging really positively with the lesson.

City in the Community (CITC) Boccia Workshop
On Monday, June 29th, some students took part in a brilliant workshop hosted by City in the Community (CITC).
The team delivered a fantastic Boccia workshop, introducing our students to the precision, strategy, and teamwork required for the sport. It was a wonderful session that not only focused on physical skills but also emphasized teamwork, communication, and community participation.

A huge well done to all of our students this week! Your engagement, curiosity, and excellent behavior in the community have made us incredibly proud.
We hope everyone has a great weekend!
