What a fantastic and busy week we’ve had across the school! Our students have been working hard, engaging in wonderful sensory experiences, and taking important steps toward building independence. Here is a roundup of what’s been happening.
Making Music in Pre-Formal
Our Pre-Formal department has had an extra special week immersed in music! The students thoroughly enjoy their Omni Music sessions, exploring sounds, rhythms, and modern music technology designed to make music accessible to everyone. It was wonderful to see so much engagement, creative expression, and joyful participation across the groups.

Preparing for Adulthood: Hands-On Learning in the Community
Out in the wider community, our students have been actively applying learning to practical, real-world situations through our Preparing for Adulthood curriculum.
Here are a few highlights of what they’ve been up to:
-
Horticulture & Environment: Students visited the orchard at Chorlton Park to mulch around the fruit trees, helping to protect them and ensure they are well-prepared for the colder months ahead.
-
Travel Training: Practicing safe and independent travel, students put their travel passes to good use, practiced paying bus fares, and learned how to read arrivals and departures boards at the local train station.
-
Community & Functional Skills: Local shopping trips and café visits provided the perfect opportunity to bring functional reading, math, and communication skills to life—from reading menus and calculating money to placing orders with confidence.

Seeing our young people build these vital life skills with such enthusiasm is incredible!
Important Reminder: Flu Vaccinations (14th October)
A quick reminder for all parents and carers that annual flu vaccinations will take place in school on Wednesday, 14th October.
Intrahealth has sent out digital/paper consent forms. Please ensure these are completed and returned as soon as possible so your child can receive their vaccination on the day. If you have any questions, please contact the school office.
Thank you to all our staff, students, and families for another incredible week. Have a wonderful weekend!
