Welcome back everyone to our summer term! We hope everyone had a great easter break.

This week students have embraced the good weather and have been enjoying outdoor learning.

On Tuesday students enjoyed a puppetry workshop presented by Goofus Theatre company. This project has been funded by the Heritage Lottery and we are working in partnership with Goofus Theatre and  Stockport Museums. They are creating a bespoke piece of theatre that will take place within the Air Raid Tunnels on Wednesday 4 June for all Heaton students, staff and their families to visit. There will be three performances on the day (times and details TBC).  Students were introduced to the tunnels through the different artifacts and how these artifacts can be used through different elements of performance.  Students experienced how puppetry works from use of props and bespoke puppets. Students then had the opportunity to create their own puppets working in teams and then they brought them to life in a performance through use of song. All students thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

On Wednesday Heaton school hosted a golf competition as part of the SHAPES sports alliance. Students enjoyed interacting with students from other schools whilst honing their golfing skills at the same time!

And Finally... a reason to celebrate!

At Heaton school one of our ethos words is celebrate. This week we celebrate the achievement of 2 staff members. Both Ernie and Madhu completed the Manchester Marathon!
