A Massive Thank You to Cheadle College and a Heartwarming Tribute to Ruby
What an emotional, inspiring, and beautiful week it has been here at Heaton School. We are absolutely thrilled to share some incredible news that has warmed all of our hearts (even more than the summer sun!).
We want to extend a massive, heartfelt thank you to the wonderful students from Cheadle College, who have raised a grand total of £600 for our school! This fantastic donation is going directly toward a brand-new piece of play equipment that our students will enjoy for years to come. This is part of a wider play / fund raising initiative that we will be sharing with you very soon!
Remembering Ruby
This donation holds a incredibly special place in our hearts. The students at Cheadle College chose Heaton School in loving memory of Ruby, a former Cheadle College student and a deeply cherished volunteer here at Heaton, who sadly passed away earlier this year. Ruby brought so much joy, kindness, and dedication to our school community, and she is missed by us all.
On Tuesday, a group of students from Cheadle College visited us to present the charity check. It was a beautiful moment as they met up with Poppy (Ruby’s sister) and her classmates to hand over the funds. Seeing the connection between the two schools and honoring Ruby's legacy in such a tangible way was incredibly moving. Ruby’s legacy of kindness lives on through this wonderful gift. We are so grateful to Cheadle College for turning their loss into something that will bring joy to so many children.

Keeping Cool and Staying Creative!
Aside from Tuesday's wonderful visit, the big talking point of the week has undoubtedly been the extremely hot weather!
We want to give a massive shout-out to all of our incredible staff and students for handling the heatwave like absolute superstars. It hasn't been easy staying focused in these soaring temperatures, but the resilience on display across every classroom has been amazing.
Creativity was clear to see right across the school! To keep cool, our classes have been thinking outside the box, incorporating:
-
Water play and sensory cooling activities
-
Shaded outdoor story sessions
-
Homemade ice lollies and plenty of extra hydration breaks
Thank you to our staff for working so hard to keep everyone safe, cool, and smiling, and well done to our students for keeping their energy and spirits high.

Have a wonderful, safe, and relaxing weekend everyone!
