Heaton news - WB 17th April

Date: 21st Apr 2023 @ 12:34pm

Firstly, welcome back to the summer term! We hope and trust that you had a good easter break.

On Tuesday some of our Cheadle students had the opportunity to visit the construction site at Stockport Exchange. Students were welcomed into a meeting room where they had a safety briefing by the site manager followed by a tour of the ground floor of the new building. The site manager discussed different jobs around the site as well as information about different equipment and machines being used and the importance of safety. It was a lovely visit which everyone enjoyed and allowed our students to think about the different types of work they might like to do in the future.

We are always very grateful to people/ organisations for donating resources to us at Heaton school. We would like to thankyou to Cheadle Rotary club who donated 2 large beanbags to our Cheadle campus. Thanks too goes to Mackenzie for finely modelling them in the picture below...

Next week is our first ever science week. We are extremely excited to tell you that (weather permitting) we will be launching our very own astronaut (Chelsea) into space (see picture below!), 40km high!! To do this we obviously need to make sure our astronaut has all the right equipment so Manchester University reps from their material sciences and engineering department are coming in to help us. We will also be testing robot landers, protecting an egg from the harsh conditions in re-entry, testing and designing space suits, making messages home from groud control, naming the mission, creating a flag and much much more. We look forward to reporting on everything that goes on!
